Quick answer

How biorhythm compatibility works, what physical, emotional and intellectual match percentages mean, and how to use a biorhythm compatibility calculator for relationships.

Biorhythm Compatibility

Biorhythm compatibility compares two people's cycles to see how often you're "in sync": both energetic, both reflective, or one up while the other is down.

How it works

Because every biorhythm cycle starts at zero on the day you're born, the only thing that matters is how many days apart you were born.

  • Born a whole number of cycles apart: your waves overlap perfectly, which is 100% compatibility for that cycle.
  • Born half a cycle apart: when one of you peaks the other is at their lowest, which is 0%.

The formula for each cycle is:

compatibility = |cos(π × (days apart mod L) ÷ L)| × 100%, where L is the cycle length (23, 28, 33 or 38 days).

Worked example

Partners born 100 days apart:

Cycle Length 100 mod L Compatibility
Physical 23 8 46%
Emotional 28 16 22%
Intellectual 33 1 100%

This pair thinks almost perfectly alike, but their moods are often out of step: when one feels upbeat, the other may want quiet.

What each score means

  • Physical: whether you have energy at the same times. Useful for couples who train, travel or work physically together.
  • Emotional: whether your moods rise and fall together. High emotional compatibility usually means an easy, intuitive rapport.
  • Intellectual: whether you're sharp and focused at the same time. Great for business partners and study partners.
  • Intuitive: whether your instincts line up.

Low compatibility isn't a deal-breaker

Out-of-phase cycles can be a strength: one partner is steady while the other recharges. Biorhythms are best used for timing, such as planning important conversations for days when you're both emotionally high.

For a traditional Vedic view of marriage compatibility, compare both birth charts with Kundli matching, which uses the Moon's nakshatra rather than birth dates.

Check your compatibility

Open the biorhythm calculator, switch to Compatibility, and enter both birth dates. You'll see a score for each cycle and both partners' waves on the same chart. Our guide on how to read a biorhythm chart explains the lines in detail.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is biorhythm compatibility calculated?

Take the number of days between the two birth dates. For each cycle, compatibility = |cos(π × (difference mod cycle length) ÷ cycle length)| × 100%. A difference that is a whole number of cycles gives 100%; half a cycle gives 0%.

What is a good biorhythm compatibility score?

Above 70% in a cycle means you tend to be high and low at the same time. Emotional compatibility is the one most people focus on for romance.

Is low biorhythm compatibility bad for a relationship?

Not necessarily. Out-of-phase partners often balance each other: when one is low, the other is high and can support them.
